'Cobbin' was one of the earliest and most significant properties settled in the Snowy Mountains. Guests have the choice of staying in Old Cobbin Homestead or Thompson's Hut, both lovingly restored. The best boutique country accomodation in Jindabyne.
Old Cobbin Homestead took 3 years to build and, at a cost of £300, was finished in 1864. Retaining the original character and later additions - such as the 'new' kitchen added in 1931 - the homestead is now a warm, cosy and comfortable place where families and friends create wonderful memories.
Thompson's Hut, is perfect for couples or some alone time. Once on the Snowy Plains sheltering mountain cattlemen, the hut has been restored and updated with a new deck to enjoy the morning sun, a clawfoot bath to soak your cares away, and old chairs by the fire.
Old Cobbin Homestead and Thompson's Hut are the only places to stay in Jindabyne.
Stay at one of two properties - Your boutique Homestead stay or a high country cabin. Either way, immerse yourself in the history of your surroundings and a quietness that is truly special while being close enough to enjoy all the action on offer at Thredbo, Perisher, Jindabyne and surrounds.
With the Man From Snowy River, Jack Riley, being employed by the original owners, and Banjo Paterson having stayed in the Homestead, you'll feel a world away and yet are just a 6 minute drive to Jindabyne, another 15 minutes to the Perisher's Ski Tube Terminal and 25 minutes to Thredbo.
Explore the 55 acre farm bounded by Cobbin Creek, find your special spot - perhaps looking out to the 100 year old orchard, or curl up to warm yourself with hot chocolate or whisky by the fire (or find relief from the summer heat!). The choice is yours.
"Thompsons Hut was absolutely magical. We thought the Hut looked good from the pictures, However on arrival it was even better! The amazing deep bath and serene location were some of the highlights, although there were many more. Bliss and Gavin were great hosts, they were super responsive when we had questions and wanted to make our stay the best they could. We will definitely be back."
"Staying at this homestead was an absolute dream! The views were breathtaking, and every detail was meticulously thought out by Bliss, thankyou for making it an unforgettable experience! The cozy aesthetic was perfect for board games by the fire, and the backyard was ideal for a game of frisbee. Plus, with kayaking and hiking options nearby, there was never a dull moment. Will Highly recommend for anyone seeking a serene escape with plenty of outdoor adventures! Book a couple nights here and you won’t regret it! "
"A beautiful place - thoughtfully decorated with a modern touch while still maintaining its character as a cottage built over 100 years ago. The perfect place if you’re looking for somewhere peaceful to get away from it all."
