The historically significant 1864 Old Cobbin Homestead is on a 55 acre high country farm in Moonbah, just 6 minutes from Jindabyne.  Built from stone for Mr James Thompson, one A.B. (Banjo) Paterson is known to have been a friend and guest, while Jack Riley, The Man From Snowy River, was employed by Mr Thompson.

The Homestead is cosy and warm after a beautiful and sympathetic restoration. With luxurious European linens, high quality Leif guest amenities, and a well stocked country kitchen, you may not want to leave. If you do, you will be 20 minutes from the Ski Tube and a further 10 minutes to Thredbo.

The Homestead has a large yet cozy lounge room with original and updated features, a four seater couch, two leather wingback chairs, and a warming wood fire. We believe in drinking good wine and whisky with great friends from beautiful glassware and trust you will enjoy this too.

The kitchen with new large gas stove and oven (no microwave), has a family sized table for meals, board games, and stories about the days' skiing, mountain biking, fishing, or other adventures. We supply ground coffee beans from Em Mac, tea & chai from Mayde, hot chocolate & marshmallows from Grounded Pleasures, along with salt, pepper, and extra virgin olive oil.  Warmed by an efficient Lopi wood heater, the well-appointed country kitchen is the heart of the Homestead.

The large master bedroom is warmed by an efficient Nobo heater. Snuggle up in the king sized bed with lovely soft European linens, or relax in the cosy armchair by the window with a good book and be warmed by morning sun. The gorgeous stone-walled study with desk, captain's chair, and lounge chair, is accessed from the master bedroom.

The second bedroom has a bunk and two single beds. A large room, good sized beds, and the same high quality linens, it is suitable for adults and children.

The centre of the Homestead served as the pantry in the 1800s and early 1900s to hold the family's essential supplies. It is from here you access the bathroom, with shower over bath, sink, and soft towels. Connect through to the laundry/drying room with washing machine, hanging space, and ski boot dryer. Added in 1961, almost 100 years after the Homestead was built, we hope you enjoy these 'modern' amenities.

We hope to host you soon at Old Cobbin Homestead so your family or friends can create wonderful memories.
